Geography & facts
Rutland Water sits in the county of Rutland in the East Midlands, England. At around 4.9 km², it's one of the larger man-made reservoirs in the country, built for drinking water supply but managed as a top-rated fishery.
How to fish
Fly fishing from boat or bank for rainbow and brown trout is the main draw, with a season running roughly March to November. Fish are stocked regularly and in good condition. Pike and carp are also present, but the focus is firmly on trout fishing.
