For advertisers, partners & investors

Reach anglers at the moment they plan the trip

People rarely land on FishMap by accident. They come to find out which species are in a specific lake, which lure works for pike in November, or what the licence rules are in Scotland — in other words, right before they buy gear, book a guide or pick a destination. That is the attention you can reach here.

Logged catches, active anglers and the monthly trend are public on the statistics page. Current traffic data (page views, markets, devices) is shared on request — we'd rather do that than round a number up here.

Who you reach

Four markets, three languages

Sweden is the home market. On top of that there's full content for Norway (Swedish, English and Norwegian), the UK and the US. The whole site is bilingual Swedish/English with separate URLs and hreflang, so a British or American visitor lands on English content straight from Google.

Close to the purchase

A large share of traffic comes from searches for a specific lake, species or technique. That means we know what the visitor is interested in when the ad is shown — a pike lure can sit in a pike context instead of being sprayed broadly and hoping for the best.

Placements available today

Every placement below is live. We're happy to build new formats, but nothing is listed here that can't already run.

How we work with advertisers

Always labelled

Sponsored content is labelled as sponsored and commercial links carry rel="sponsored". Editorial content is never for sale.

Relevance over volume

We'd rather have a few advertisers that fit the content than many that don't. An irrelevant ad hurts both your return and our credibility.

Consent and GDPR

Ad scripts only load after the visitor consents. That means fewer tracked impressions — but also that the reporting holds up legally.

Why FishMap

  • Our own data foundation. Waters, species, fishing rules and observations are compiled from official sources — SLU Artdatabanken, the USGS National Hydrography Dataset and GBIF — and tied to our own lake pages. This isn't scraped content that everyone else already has.
  • Built for search. Lakes, species, regions, municipalities, techniques and guides each have their own indexed pages in both Swedish and English, with structured data and hreflang. Reach grows with the content rather than with ad spend.
  • A community, not just a reference. Catch logging, leaderboards, tips, a photo gallery and fishing-buddy matching bring people back — the difference between a one-off visit from Google and a returning user.
  • Independent and transparent. FishMap isn't owned by a media group and is funded by supporters, affiliate revenue and advertising partnerships. The platform's data sits in the open on the statistics page — anyone can check the claims made here.

Frequently asked questions

What does it cost to advertise on FishMap?

There is no fixed rate card. FishMap is a small, independent platform and every partnership is priced on format, scope and duration. Tell us what you want to achieve and we'll come back with a concrete proposal and current traffic data.

What kind of advertisers are a good fit?

Anyone relevant to someone planning a fishing trip: tackle and gear brands, fishing shops, guides and charters, fishing camps and accommodation, tourism boards and destinations, plus boat and electronics manufacturers. We don't take advertisers unrelated to fishing or the outdoors.

How is sponsored content labelled?

All paid or affiliate content is labelled as sponsored, and outgoing commercial links carry rel="sponsored". We don't blend editorial content with advertising — it's both a Google requirement and the basis for readers trusting the site.

Can my shop appear without paying?

Yes. The Fisherman's Choice shop directory is free — anyone can suggest a fishing shop and it's published after review. Paid partnerships are about placement and reach beyond that base listing.

Do I get performance reporting?

Yes. We track page views and clicks internally and report results for the placements your partnership covers. Part of the platform's data is also public and updates continuously at /statistics.

Is it possible to invest in FishMap?

Get in touch with the founder directly. FishMap is independently run and currently funded by supporters, affiliate revenue and advertising partnerships — we're happy to walk you through the product, the data and growth.
